Street tree pruning: responding to community concerns

We value our street trees for shade, cooling and neighbourhood character. While we hear concerns about pruning and removals, we assess each tree individually and only remove them as a last resort for safety or health reasons. We replace trees when removed and continue planting to grow our urban canopy, while engaging with residents about local works.

We cannot fund all of the infrastructure and programs our community needs on our own. We advocate across all levels of government to secure the funding and influence the policies our community needs to thrive. We will be tracking any election commitments that specifically relate to Banyule and align with our priorities.
