Reduced rates for pensioners and concession card holders
If you are a pensioner or concession card holder, you pay 50% of the relevant fee, plus the state government levy. Eligible cards are:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans' Affairs Repatriation Health Card specifying a War Widow TPI.
Owners of restricted, menacing or dangerous dogs do not receive a reduced fee.
Victorian Government levy for dogs or cats is $4.65 each.
To claim your concession, Please upload a copy of your concession card when asked while completing your online application.
Transfer
The transfer fee for bringing a dog or cat from a different council to Banyule is $6.90.
Registration must be paid up to 9 April in the current period with proof from previous council required.
Reduced rates for organisational registration
You are eligible for a reduced fee if your pet(s) are registered with one of the organisations below. If you fall into one of these categories please contact Council for further information.
- Dogs Victoria (owner must be registered with)
- Australian National Cats Inc.
- Feline Control Council of Victoria Inc.
- The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy Australia and Victorian Inc.
Your pet must not be already receiving a reduced fee from Council.
Your pet registration dollars at work
Your registration fees help pay for our animal control services, including:
- 24-hour emergency service
- a pound/shelters for lost, stray and unwanted animals
- community education.
- support or enhance dog park facilities, such as dog waste bins.
- support animal management staff in returning animals to their owners.
- support training to develop the skills of animal management staff.
- action on nuisance response complaint, such as barking dogs, trespassing complaints, wandering and stray animals
- ensuring the presence of park and street patrols.
- dangerous and restricted breed dog management.
