Major projects

We invest in large-scale infrastructure projects for the benefit of our community. We also actively advocate on behalf of our community to improve major projects happening within Banyule.

Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub

This major project is an extension of the Ivanhoe Town Hall to create a multi-purpose hub that will include a modern accessible library, art gallery, maternal and child health consulting suites and meeting rooms. Due to open late 2020.

North East Link

The North East Link is the largest road project in Victoria's history. Learn more about the project and what we have advocated for.

Bellfield Masterplan

This is a major project to help revitalize an important site in Bellfield. The project will include new residential housing, a new community centre and community garden and social housing.

Advocacy

We advocate on behalf of the community to make Banyule a better place for people to live, work and play.

Banyule City Council is proud to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as traditional custodians of the land and we pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Elders, past, present and emerging, who have resided in the area and have been an integral part of the region's history.

Banyule is a diverse community, made up of people from different cultures, beliefs, abilities, bodies, ages, sexualities, genders and identities. Council is committed to inclusion, access and equity for everyone. These principles foster cohesiveness, empower people and improve the wellbeing of the Banyule community.
