Registering your cat or dog with us is easy. Simply follow the steps described on this page to register and pay for your animal and keep a record of the online payment for yourself.
As a requirement of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, your dog or cat must be microchipped and registered with us if they are over 3 months old. You may receive an infringement if you do not register your cat or dog.
Pet registrations expire on 9 April each year. You will receive a renewal notice in March with payment needed by 10 April to renew your pet registration for the following year.
Assistance dogs are exempt from registration fees if they meet the criteria. To be eligible, the owner of an assistance dog must make an application and provide reasonable evidence that:

There is no fee to register active guide dogs (inlcuding in training) or working dogs carrying out duties for a department or agency of the state or Commonwealth, including police, border force or customs.

At points in the process you may be asked to provide evidence of the above documents as we try to calculate your fee. Submitting clear photos or digital scans of the documents will help us to process your request quickly, so be sure to check the quality of your documents and ensure the text is readable before you start the registration process.
When asked, consider providing as many contact details you can and keep us informed of any changes. Only one person can be registered owner of a pet at any time. The contact information you provide through this form will only be used to contact you regarding your animals registration.

If you are registering a dangerous or restricted dog, you can use this registration process. You will not be required to make any payment at this stage. An Authorised Officer will be in contact with you on receipt of your application.
