The Banyule Story: Our Annual Report for 2024–2025

The Banyule Story 2024–2025 – also known as our Annual Report – is a transparent, honest and open account of what Council has achieved over the last financial year.

It’s one way we report to you, our community, on Council's operations and performance. It explains how we have delivered Banyule's Council Plan 2021–2025 and includes an independently audited financial report.

In addition to the Annual Report, which is made up of 3 documents, we’ve also prepared a 5-minute video featuring all Councillors that shows some of the highlights achieved in the past year, such as:

  • Adopting the Banyule Plan as our roadmap for the future
  • Delivering 1,300 home visits, 1,800 family violence screenings, and over 2,300 immunisation encounters
  • Creating 24 local jobs and nearly 60 employment pathways
  • Attracting 18,000+ attendees to major events like Carols, Twilight Sounds, and Lantern Festival
  • Engaging the community through Shaping Banyule, with 175,000 visits and 4,000 responses shaping policies and strategies
  • Securing $2.3M federal funding to electrify WaterMarc
  • Resurfacing 28 streets, maintained 500 km of roads, and replaced 11 km of footpaths for safer and smoother travel
  • Progressing major projects like the Watsonia Town Square, Rosanna Library, and Olympic Park Masterplan
  • Updating local laws to tackle illegal dumping, rogue trolleys, and create smoke-free public areas
  • Delivering a $19M surplus, launched a service navigation program for 240 locals, and approved over 500 hardship relief applications.

While we celebrate our achievements, we also acknowledge areas where we can improve – which is detailed in the written report. Council is committed to learning from feedback, addressing challenges, and continuing to build a more inclusive, connected, and sustainable Banyule through our Banyule Plan 2025–2029.
