VEC announces candidates for Beale Ward by-election

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has released details of the by-election including key dates, nominations and what support is available to help you with the voting process.

Residents and ratepayers in Beale Ward need to make sure they are enrolled, and enrolment details are correct.

Local councils make important decisions about community services and businesses, and all ratepayers and council-enrolled voters are encouraged to participate in their democracy.

As this is a postal election, it's important to check if your address details are correct. This includes any alternative postal address.

Voting in local council elections is compulsory if you are enrolled.

Key dates for voters

If you're an Australian citizen living in Beale Ward and you've recently turned 18 or moved, you can enrol or update your details online.

Ballot packs will be posted from Monday 14 September and must be returned before 6 pm on Friday 2 October. You can post your ballot or drop it off at the election office.

If you're blind or have low vision, you can register to receive your ballot pack in large print or braille.

     Open 9am-5pm on weekdays from 17 August to 30 September
    Open 9am-8pm on 1 October
    Open 9am-6pm on 2 October

Council-enrolled voters

Council-enrolled voters must vote in this election or risk being fined.

If you are an owner ratepayer, occupier ratepayer or represent a corporation, you may be able to enrol as a council-enrolled voter. You don't have to be an Australian citizen to become a council-enrolled voter.
