Tree removals along Ellesmere Parade, Rosanna
Published on 16 July 2026
Banyule Council is aware of community concerns regarding tree removal works occurring along Ellesmere Parade, Rosanna.
Council shares many of the same concerns regarding the 372 trees marked for removal and has been seeking more information on this issue, raising concerns that the full details of tree removal were not clear to the community and to Council.
Council has contacted the Minister for Transport Infrastructure urgently requesting the works be paused and further information provided. Council is disappointed to see that tree removal works have now commenced without the requested information being provided.
We are actively asking for the exact timing and schedule for tree removal as well as the replanting and rehabilitation plan for replacement trees to be made available. We will continue to raise our concerns and seek information from the agencies and government departments responsible for the project.
The works form part of the
Victorian Government's Ruthven Street Level Crossing Removal Project and Council has no direct control over the works. As this is a State Government project, enquiries and complaints relating to the tree removal works or any other aspect of the project including noise should be directed to the Level Crossing Removal Project team. The LXRP project have published details around the disruptions and changes associated with the current works.
Council understands that changes to the local environment can generate concern within the community and encourages residents seeking information about the works to
contact the project team directly.
