We’re celebrating 20 years of Backyard Sports and Bike Hut in Heidelberg West.
Originally established through a collaboration between Exodus Community, Open House and us, the Malahang Bike Hut has been supporting local young people and residents for two decades.
Today, Open House delivers the Backyard Sports and Bike Hut programs every Thursday afternoon at Malahang Reserve. We provide the space and support for the Bike Hut.
It’s a great way for young people to participate in sport and learn bike maintenance skills. It also helps them connect with others in a welcoming community setting. Regular sports include soccer, football and basketball.
Bring your bike, scooter or skateboard to learn hands-on maintenance skills. Refurbished bikes are donated to local residents.
All activities are free and no bookings are required. Just come along and join in.

Open House is looking for volunteers to support the Backyard Sports and Bike Hut program. You can also donate bikes and bike parts in good working order.
