Heritage Victoria has placed a condition requiring the removal of the existing portico at the front of Heidelberg Town Hall as part of the Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub building works.

The current portico does not align with Heritage Victoria’s guidelines and is obstructing the original facade of this significant heritage building. To ensure the integrity and visibility of the Town Hall’s historic architecture, we have worked closely with a Heritage Architect and Heritage Victoria to develop an appropriate solution.

Heritage Victoria has approved the reinstatement of a slim-lined portico that acknowledges the building’s heritage character and will provide a functional entry without detracting from the facade.

This change reflects our commitment to preserving the heritage value of Heidelberg Town Hall while ensuring it remains accessible and welcoming for the community.
