Service changes for Waste Recovery Centre
Published on 20 October 2025
We are making some important upgrades at our Waste Recovery Centre to keep the facility up to date with modern safety and operational standards.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve the site.
When
From Monday 3 November 2025 the rear area of the Waste Recovery Centre will be closed for at least 12 months to enable construction.
This will have an impact on our capability to deliver some waste services. Access to the Visy MRF will be maintained during construction, but there may be minor changes to traffic flow.
Who will be affected
- Commercial customers such as commercial gardeners and builders
- All green waste customers
- Rubble and building waste customers
There will also be reduced access to dropping off refrigerators and compressors.
Green waste
Commercial disposal of green waste will not be accepted during the construction period, except when presented in a waste compaction vehicle.
Residential disposal will only be available on weekends during our standard operating hours. This ensures that most residents still have some access.
Weekday green waste drop-off will not be available for residential or commercial customers.
Alternative disposal sites
Plan your waste disposal trip accordingly and verify alternative locations' capability and operating hours.
Driving time from the Waste Recovery Centre: 20 to 30 minutes
Building rubble
Many councils have unique definitions of what building rubble includes, and it is important that you understand what we consider rubble to be:
Rubble is considered to be product containing concrete, soil, rock, sleepers, loads of building products and waste with high dust content. It also includes any item that cannot be crushed in the compactor waste pits, for example a pianos, long wooden poles or ironbark sleeper. Any material that might coat staff with dust is also considered rubble, for example plaster.
No rubble disposal of any size will be accepted during this period.
