Banyule City Council (Council) gives notice of its intention to amend the suburb boundary affecting the property at 619 Lower Plenty Road, Viewbank, changing the property’s suburb designation from Viewbank to Yallambie by lodging an application with Geographic Names Victoria for the amendment of the suburb boundary affecting the subject property.
This proposal is made under the Geographic Names Act 1998 (Vic) and the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria.
This proposal follows a request from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), which occupies the subject property, to address issues with mail delivery and address recognition across government and emergency services systems. Council considers the proposed change to be in the public interest as it will improve address accuracy and consistency across relevant systems.
The amendment affects only the subject property, does not affect neighbouring properties, and does not involve any wider suburb boundary changes. As the proposed change is administrative in nature and affects only the subject property, no further consultation is proposed.
