National Volunteer Week 2026 celebrates the vital role volunteers play in strengthening communities across Australia and right here in Banyule. Held from 18–24 May, it is the nation’s largest annual recognition of volunteering.

The 2026 theme Your Year to Volunteer acknowledges the contribution of current volunteers, while encouraging more people to get involved. It highlights how volunteering can create connection, purpose and positive change.

National Volunteer Week is both a celebration and an invitation for our community to visit our neighbourhood houses and community centres who are hosting volunteer appreciation events to thank local volunteers and discover how 2026 can be your year to volunteer.
