Our parks, reserves and open spaces are enjoyed by everyone, which is why we’re so disappointed by the actions of those who choose to dump illegally.
An offender was recently caught dumping mulch in the car park at Chelsworth Park. This seemingly small incident required clean-up, restoration and investigation. It took away valuable time and resources from other community services.
Our Local Laws team investigated this incident and tracked down the serial offender, who was served a hefty fine of more than $10,000.
Unfortunately, dumped mulch can’t simply be repurposed or given away because we don’t know what’s in it or whether it’s contaminated.
You can help stop illegal dumping by reporting it.
If you have already filled your green bin, you can take household quantities of green waste (fees apply) to the Waste Recovery Centre.
Properties that receive our waste services get 2 booked waste collections per year. These can be used for bundled branches, mattresses or hard waste.
