Erosion of Banyule Creek bank at Callahan Falls

Published on 29 June 2026

We are aware of soil erosion near Banyule Creek at Callahan Falls. Our priority is always community safety. Once aware of the issue, we attended the site and installed temporary fencing to restrict access and warning signage while the issue was assessed.

This is an area that is managed by Melbourne Water and they have now understaken works to repair the soil erosion along the banks of the creek. Any further enquires around should be directed to Melbourne Water.

Council is also aware that Yarra Valley Water are also undertaking sewer works in the area, so the community can expect to see various contractors and works along other areas of the creek.

We encourage the community to avoid the area during works and follow the safety measures and site restrictions that are in place.
