East / West Powerline Trail improvements

East West Powerline trail

We are upgrading the East / West Powerline Trail from Watsonia to the Plenty River Trail with support from the North East Link Project.

We will be upgrading the existing trail by:

  • making it wider
  • installing more seating
  • applying new line marking
  • building missing sections of trail
  • building raised crossings over roads to improve user safety.

Trail diversions will be in place, and we ask the community for patience while these upgrades are occurring.

This project will help more of the community connect with some of our amazing parks and rivers.

Timeline

The trail will be built over a few stages beginning from Elder Street Reserve and building towards the Plenty River (east).

  • Construction commences in April/May 2026
  • Construction completion in July/August 2026

Description of works

The user path map shows the area under the powerlines where a new and updated path will be constructed. Stage 1 will start from the left (west) in Elder Street Reserve to Wendover Place. Then,  a continuation between Yallambie Road to The Grange.

Stage 2 will improve the Yallambie Road and Wendover Place intersection to incorporate the trail and future stages will look to link to the trail to the Plenty River Tail.
