Community petition for wildlife crossing along Banyule Creek

Placeholder option 5

A parliamentary petition has been created by the local community calling on the Victorian Government to 'ensure that the underground wildlife crossing at Banyule Creek, Borlase Reserve, Lower Plenty Road, Yallambie is installed as previously promised to the community in the North East Link Tunnels Urban Design and Landscape Plan and to publicly release the Kangaroo Management Plan for the project interface with Simpson Barracks and for the M80 interchange.'

This petition is aligned with a broader advocacy position that we presented to the Municipal Association of Victoria's State Council in May 2026. We presented a motion calling on the Victorian Government to support the delivery of promised outcomes of Victorian Big Build projects. Specifically, within this motion, we called for 'the delivery and long-term protection of continuous habitat corridors to support biodiversity, ecological connectivity, and urban greening outcomes.'

See details of this motion and other motions from the 2026 State Council.
