Gathering of friend-of-nature volunteers

Planting season has begun!

Cooler days and autumn rains makes for a great time to start our friends-of groups' plantings. This year, the Bush Crew, the Friends of the Plenty River and Friends of Anthony Beale will be focusing on increasing the canopy cover in lawn areas along the river and isolated bushland reserves.

The wildlife corridor region of the Plenty River is so thin and fragmented from centuries of deforestation and pastoral land use. With yearly plantings, these areas are slowly getting their canopy and vegetation layers back, bringing with them the wildlife that naturally live amongst it.

The Bush Crew is very proud of the relationship shared with our friends-of groups, and it is a privilege to be able to share the success of all our vegetation community regeneration with them. Our Bushland Management Unit are often praised for the conservation gains in the reserves, but without the efforts of the groups we would not be able to perform half of the conservation work that is done.

On behalf of the entire Bushland Management Unit, we would like to continue to thank all our beautiful volunteers.

We strongly encourage others in the community to join their local friends-of group or attend a planting day in your area.
