Adults and their bicycles

Join this practical bike riding skills session if you can already balance and pedal a bike but would like to build your confidence.

Whether you have not ridden for a while, are returning after an injury, or simply want to feel more comfortable on two wheels, this session will help you develop important riding skills in a safe, traffic-free environment.

What to expect

Our friendly instructors will guide you through essential bike control skills, including:

  • Smooth starting and stopping
  • Using gears effectively
  • Scanning and signalling
  • Riding safely on shared paths and roads

There will be a break in the middle of the day for a BYO lunch, giving you time to relax, ask questions, and connect with other participants while you build your skills and confidence.

Suitability

This workshop is suitable for adults who are comfortable riding their bike on shared paths and wish to start building their confidence to ride on the road for transport and recreation. All types of human-powered bicycles, including folding bikes and e-bikes are welcome.

What to bring

  • A bicycle of suitable size and type, in good condition with working brakes, a bell and pumped up tyres.
  • Australian Standards Approved helmet in good condition.
  • Runners or similar closed-toe footwear.
  • Sun/weather protection.
  • A bottle of water.
  • Snacks, lunch (or there are cafes/shops nearby).
  • Any medication Suitable clothing for the conditions.
