Behind-the-scenes deep dive into recycling

Take a behind-the-scenes look at our recycling system during this informative session for adults.

Discover what happens to your recycling after collection and learn about the systems, processes and technology that help turn old packaging into new products.

You will also have the opportunity to see a working recycling factory in operation and learn why recycling plays such an important role in reducing waste.

Who should attend

This session is designed for adults who are interested in learning more about recycling and waste management. Young people aged 16 and over are welcome to attend but must be supervised by an adult at all times.

What to expect

Gain a deeper understanding of how recycling works beyond the kerbside bin, including how materials are sorted and processed.

You will see the Materials Recovery Facility in action and learn about the technology that helps transform recyclable materials into new products.

What to bring

• Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
• Please bring your own water bottle.
• If you are unwell on the day, please stay home to protect others.

When

Location

Free parking is available on Perkins Avenue, opposite the venue, as well as surrounding streets. Parking on Perkins Avenue has a two-hour limit, however nearby streets offer all-day parking. Ivanhoe Train Station is approximately a 20-minute walk away, with nearby bus stops at Plunkett Street/Bell Street (Routes 513, 514 and 903) and Perkins Avenue/Oriel Road (Routes 230, 350 and 549).
