Back to basics waste and recycling

Next date: Wednesday, 22 April 2026 | 06:00 PM to 07:30 PM

Stylised design of residents and waste bins

Join us at our newly reopened Rethink Centre for a back-to-basics waste information session designed to cut through the confusion and answer those everyday questions about what goes in which bin and why.

What to expect

We will:

  • break down the fundamentals of waste, recycling and food and garden organics
  • share common mistakes we see
  • offer practical tips to help you better manage your waste at home.

The session will also include a viewing of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) from a dedicated platform, giving you a rare behind-the-scenes look at how recycling is sorted and processed in real time.

Seeing the system in action helps bring the theory to life and often changes the way people think about what they put in their bins.

Why you should attend

This information session is perfect for anyone wanting a clearer understanding of waste and recycling, whether you are just getting started or looking to refresh your knowledge.

All ages are welcome. Please ensure you wear closed toe footwear.
