If you have found an animal that you can safely contain, please call our 24-hour service on 9490 4222 to arrange pickup.

Finding your missing pet

Roaming cats

If your cat goes missing, you can record its details on our Lost and Found Register by calling during business hours on 9490 4222.

We recommend that you also check the Greensborough Cat Protection Society (GCPS).

Due to COVID-19, the GCPS is closed to the public, but available over the phone on 8457 6500.

After we pick them up

If we can identify a cat safely by its registration tag, we will try to bring it home first. If you are not home, they will be taken to the GCPS.

Wandering dogs

Roaming dogs that are picked up are taken to Nillumbik Regional Pound. Dogs must be collected within 8 days.

Due to COVID-19, the pound is closed to the public. The collection process begins over the phone on 9433 3111 from 9am and 3pm on weekdays.

Instructions will be e-mailed to you with details about the release fee, how to pay it online and how to collect your dog.

Registered dogs

If your dog is micro-chipped or wearing its registration tag, we will try to bring it home first.

If you are not home, we will leave you a message that your dog has been taken to the pound.

Unregistered dogs

Any dog not wearing a registration tag or without a microchip will be taken to the pound immediately.

You will need to pay for current registration before your dog is released.
