Reporting found animals

If you have found an animal that you can contain to your property, please call Council's 24-hour service on 9490 4222 to arrange its pickup.

Finding your missing pet

If your pet goes missing, you can record their details on our Lost and Found Register. Call Council during business hours on 9490 4222.

We recommend you also check at the Nillumbik Regional Pound for your dog, or the Greensborough Cat Protection Society for your cat.

The Greensborough Cat Protection Society is closed to the public, but available over the phone on 8457 6500.

The Nillumbik Regional dog pound is closed to the public. If your dog has been impounded, call Nillumbik Council on 9433 3111 during weekday business hours to organise payment and release.

No dogs will be released on weekends: if you receive notification on a weekend, call the next business day.

All impounded dogs must be registered before they leave the pound. Complete a pet registration form and send to us at enquiries@banyule.vic.gov.au, then call us to take a payment via credit card over the phone.
