The Committees Policy outlines how we establish, manage and review Council committees that provide community advice and input into our decision-making. It aims to ensure committees operate consistently, represent diverse community perspectives, and help improve community wellbeing, inclusion and participation.
To implement the policy, we maintain clear Terms of Reference, recruit diverse committee members, provide governance support and training, regularly review committee performance, and report recommendations and outcomes to Council.
The policy benefits our community by creating more opportunities for people to have a voice in our decisions, improving representation of diverse groups, strengthening community engagement, and helping us make better-informed decisions that reflect local needs and experiences.
In line with the Committees Policy, the Committee Code of Conduct has been endorsed by Council and applies to every member who chooses to participate on an advisory committee or sub-committee working group. This code is drawn from broader national guidelines and is not negotiable.
