Overview
The Victorian Government has mandated the implementation of a fourth glass-only recycling bin from July 2027. We have joined a group 34 councils to advocate for a more practical glass recycling system.
The shared position of the group is that the upcoming implementation of the glass-only bin should be delayed to allow the local government sector to negotiate a more workable system, ideally one that includes an expansion of the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) to include wine and spirit bottles.
