2025 Banyule volunteer awards

Volunteers from across Banyule were celebrated on Wednesday 21 May as we marked National Volunteer Week with the 20th annual Banyule Volunteer Celebration.

More than 370 guests and over 80 community groups came together for a night of recognition and connection Award nominees and their supporters celebrated achievements and reflected on the power of giving back.

Banyule Mayor Elizabeth Nealy paid tribute to the vital role volunteers play across Banyule. “The roles and responsibilities of volunteers are incredibly varied, but what unites them is their generosity, compassion and commitment,” she said. “Volunteers are the backbone of our community, and we thank them for everything they do.”

From those just beginning their volunteering journey to those with decades of service, the evening was a great reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for others.

“Volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen communities,” Cr Nealy said. “It’s not just what volunteers do – it’s the spirit with which they do it.”

We extend our sincere thanks to all volunteers in Banyule whose contributions truly make a difference.
