We are proud to be piloting sensory-friendly leisure sessions at Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre and Olympic Leisure Centre as part of our commitment to residents with sensory needs and hidden disabilities.

Quiet sessions provide a low stimulation environment for people with sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, dementia or anyone who prefers a calmer setting.

Sessions feature:

  • reduced noise
  • fewer visual distractions
  • designated quiet zone.

Locations and times

  • Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre (pool and gym)
Saturdays from 25 April to 21 June at 2.30–3.30pm
  • Olympic Leisure Centre (gym)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 21 April to 25 June, 1-2pm

Our commitment

We are committed to creating welcoming, accessible environments where everyone can participate comfortably. As part of this commitment, we are a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower member.

The sunflower is a globally recognised symbol for people with non-visible disabilities such as chronic pain or fatigue, mental health conditions and neurodivergence. It signals they may need extra support, understanding or time in everyday interactions.

Wearing a Sunflower item is completely optional and does not require any explanation.
