The disabled experience of mental health

Disability pride

Join us for a powerful evening of conversation, creativity and connection in celebration of Disability Pride Month and its 2025 theme: No Shame. No Apologies.

Hosted by Schizy Inc., a lived experience-led arts organisation, this event invites the community to engage with diverse perspectives on mental health, from personal experiences of disability to global conversations around ableism, access and inclusion.

The event features disabled leaders, including:

  • Heidi Everett – artist, writer and founder of Schizy Inc.
  • Eva Sifis – brain injury advocate, founder of By Accident
  • Janice Florence – inclusive dance pioneer, Weave Movement Theatre
  • Jeremy Hawkes – multidisciplinary artist
  • Sandy Jeffs OAM – poet and mental health advocate

Through shared stories and honest dialogue, the leaders will explore what it means to connect respectfully, work sustainably and show up with pride in creative spaces while living with diverse experiences of body, mind and identity.
