Confidently moving onto the road on your bike

Build your cycling skills and confidence in this practical, hands-on workshop. Starting in a traffic-free environment, you will learn essential bike handling techniques before progressing to road safety skills and an optional on-road group ride. The course is delivered by experienced instructors from Bike it Better.

Who should attend

• Adults who currently ride on shared paths and want to feel more confident riding on local roads.
• Riders of human-powered bicycles and Victorian-compliant e-bikes.
• People who live, work or study in Banyule.
• Anyone wanting to improve their bike handling, road awareness and cycling confidence.

What to expect

The day begins with practical skills training in a traffic-free environment, where you will build confidence and develop essential bike handling techniques. After a BYO lunch break, you will learn strategies for riding safely on local roads, including road positioning, communicating with traffic and navigating common road situations, before putting your new skills into practice on a guided on-road group ride.

Schedule

• 10am – 12.30pm: Skills practice in a traffic-free environment
• 12.30pm – 1pm: BYO lunch break
• 1pm – 3pm: Theory, skills practice and guided on-road ride
