Malahang Community Festival
Malahang Community Festival is a celebration of the local community and all of its colour and vibrancy. This year’s festival will be on Sunday 17 November, 11am-4pm, so remember to save the date. This year we have an exciting line up of entertainment, activities and ways to get involved during the day. Here’s just a taste of what you can expect to see.
Kids ... we’re excited to announce that popular ABC TV personality dirtgirl will be at the Malahang Community Festival.
Dirtgirl and her crew of energetic eco warriors will perform on stage. There will also be an opportunity to meet them, sing along with them and have your photo taken with them.
Banyule Has Talent stage
Back by popular demand, the Banyule Has Talent stage will showcase some of the local communities’ best talent.
Olympic Village Makers Market
Packed to the brim with local artists, collectors and trinket sellers, the Olympic Village Makers Market is perfect for some early Christmas shopping.
Sensory friendly chill out space
If the sights and sounds of the festival get a bit overwhelming, then take a break and relax on a comfy beanbag or participate in a quiet activity.
Banyule Youth Services will offer a range of activities including hair feathers, temporary tattoos and badge making.
Interactive activities will include sensory play, fruit workshops, giant inflatable slide and make your own dream catcher to take home.
Community arts project
Join us to decorate and help create our community mural banner at festival! The project encourages people to consider their individuality and celebrate diversity through playful engagement with art.
People will be invited to spend some time painting a version of themselves on a large canvas banner alongside a community of other faces.
Join the fun of this safe family day that includes music, games, competitions, stalls, food and information.
To ensure that the event is accessible to everyone a Malahang Festival Social Story(DOCX, 5MB) has been prepared.
Malahang Community Festival is proudly supported by Health Careers International and Medibank Private.
