Chillin' in Banyule

Chillin' in Banyule is our local music festival running throughout May. With over 30 live performances at 17 participating venues across Banyule – from Ivanhoe East to Heidelberg West, from Macleod to Montmorency – Chillin’ showcases the best of local solo artists and bands playing gigs close to home.

Things to know

Important dates

  • Launch night event 28 April 2026
  • Gig dates run from 1-24 May 2026

Performers

We are looking for musicians and artists who live, work or play in Banyule and whose style would suit a relaxed-Sunday-afternoon or after-work-gathering vibe.

Due to the types of venues that apply for the Chillin' in Banyule gig series (small cafes and restaurants) we are limited in opportunities for larger groups and bands.

Your role will include:

  • communicating with venues on scheduled gigs, including logistics and technical requirements
  • working with us to ensure gigs are planned, scheduled and managed
  • remaining available for your scheduled performance dates
  • providing high quality images to be used for promotional material
  • assisting with gigs promotion on social media.

Venues

We are interested in working with local cafés, restaurants or other venues that would like to make connections with local performers.

Your role will include:

  • working with performers scheduled at your venue to manage their gigs
  • working with us to ensure gigs are planned, scheduled and managed
  • promoting scheduled gigs via social media and at the venue
  • obtaining an exemption for live music via the our Development Planning department (if required)
  • fostering ongoing relationships with performers for future gigs.

Payments and superannuation

Each flat fee is for a 3-hour call, inclusive of set-up, pack-down and a break between sets.

  • Solo: $300
  • Duo: $400
  • Trio or band: $500

Superannuation

You must have an ABN and have an agreement as a sole trader (not a duo or band) to be eligible to claim superannuation on top of your fee.

If eligible, include the 12% superannuation on your final invoice. Additional instruction will be provided to those who are eligible.
