Work experience and tertiary placement

Our work experience and student placement programs give young people valuable insight into the workplace and help prepare them for future careers. Priority is given to people who live or study locally.

We value diversity, inclusion and belonging, and are committed to providing opportunities for as many secondary school students as possible. Participants gain firsthand experience of the workplace, learn about different career pathways and see how various departments support our community every day. Year 10 work experience

We partner with the Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN) to coordinate Year 10 work experience placements for secondary school students.

For enquiries about secondary school student placements, please contact BNLLEN at bnwl@bnllen.org.au.

Tertiary placement

Tertiary placements are available to students who are currently enrolled in a tertiary course and are required to complete a work placement as part of their studies.

Placements provide an opportunity to apply academic learning in a workplace setting while developing practical skills and work readiness. Placements are unpaid and may be project-based or time-based.

To be eligible, the placement must be a requirement of your course and endorsed by your tertiary institution.

Priority is given to La Trobe University students and students who live locally.

Apprenticeships

We partner with CVGT Employment to provide apprenticeship opportunities.

Apprenticeships can be:

  • undertaken on a full time or part time basis
  • used as a stepping stone to start or further a career in an industry
  • paid opportunities to combine formal learning ( for example TAFE) with workplace training.

Contact CVGT directly for more information.
