What we are seeking
The Victorian Government to:
- Extend the existing North-East Truck Curfew within Banyule to 24 hours, including on roads such as Rosanna Road, Greensborough Road, and Lower Plenty Road.
- Review of through truck routes on existing arterial roads between the M80 and the Eastern Freeway.

Overview and background
- A truck curfew for vehicles over 16.5 tonnes is currently in place between the hours of 10.00pm and 6.00am on Rosanna Road, Lower Plenty Road and Greensborough Highway.
- Council made a submission to the North East Link Environmental Effects Statement (EES) process requesting extension of the existing North-East truck curfew within Banyule to hrs.
- An extension of the truck ban to hrs. was not supported by the DTP as Rosanna Road remains a key arterial route for over-dimensional trucks and placarded vehicle.
- A 24h truck ban is supported by Council's neighbours Nillumbik and Manningham Council.
- The 2025-2030 Victorian Freight Plan outlines the importance of managing freight impacts on local communities.
- The Minster’s North East Link, EES assessment report agrees with the recommendation to review non-local truck movements after the completion of the NEL and consider at this point if a curfew should be extended to a ban.
