Discolouration in Banyule Creek: What we know and what’s being done
Published on 16 July 2025
Earlier today, Council became aware of a pollution incident that caused a blue discolouration in Banyule Creek, south of Lower Plenty Road, Rosanna, through Creekbend Reserve. We understand and share our community's concerns.
The state’s pollution regulator, EPA Victoria, has been involved in leading the investigation and response.
Council has been in contact with the EPA and offered our full support - and Council has also been advised that our drainage system is not considered a source of the pollution.
Council will continue to work alongside EPA to inspect downstream areas and monitor for any ongoing effects.
We're committed to protecting our local environment and supporting the agencies managing this incident.
