Over the past two years, we have developed Banyule's first climate adaptation Plan. We have combined it with our former Community Climate Action Plan 2026-2031 to create one plan to help reduce carbon emissions and adapt to climate change impacts. The new Community Climate Resilience Plan sets out actions Council will take to lower emissions and respond to risks such as extreme storms, heatwaves, flooding and bushfires.
To develop the draft Community Climate Resilience Plan, we assessed Banyule's climate-related risks, conducted three stages of community engagement, worked with Council staff and advisory committees to develop and improve the plan, and outlined our in-depth methodology for implementing the plan.
