Pools and Spas in Public Facilities

Council's Health Services routinely inspects public pools and spas. If you have concerns about the water quality at a public pool or spa, contact us on 9457 9965.

The Department of Health website  has helpful information about public pools and spas and the legislative requirements, information for swimmers and when to avoid swimming, information about cleaning and operating pools and spas and other related general information.

Steps to healthy swimming:

Do not swim if you have diarrhoea (in the case of Cryptosporidium, do not swim for 14 days after diarrhoea stops).

  • Always shower and wash thoroughly with soap (especially your bottom) before you swim.
  • Always wash your hands with soap after going to the toilet or changing a nappy.
  • Change nappies in nappy change areas only.
  • Avoid swallowing pool water.

Council’s aquatic facilities, including operating hours, are listed on our Sport and Recreation pages.
