You must have your dog or cat microchipped to register them with council and provide proof of the chip details to council when registering.
Having your pet microchipped greatly increases the chances of your pet being returned to you if it gets lost.
Microchipping is mandatory for registration with Council. Pets may not be re-united with owners if owners fail to keep their details current on the microchip registry.
Bookings are essential. Please visit National Pet Register by following the link under Related information, or call 1300 734 738.
Change your details
Many pets are unable to be returned home because of the owners failing to change details with the registry. If you move house please ensure you change your details with the microchip database.
To change your details visit Central Animal Records or National Pet Register please follow the links located under Related information.
