Service updates and cancellations

A summary of all our services is listed. The availability of individual services we offer consider health advice and measures introduced by the Victorian Government to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

We are continuously monitoring advice from the Department of Health and Human Services and reconsider the services we operate regularly. Individual services are subject to change as your health, and that of our staff are our top priorities.

Health

Business as usual forImmunisation clinics

We are still running our immunisation clinics as scheduled with personal hygiene measures in place.

We currently have a limited supply of paid flu immunisations for children aged 5-10 years for $25, and we are still taking bookings for the free government flu immunisations for children 6 months to under 5 years of age and at risk groups. We cannot supply the vaccine to over 65s, contact your GP for further details.

Delays are expected and your patience is appreciated as we are limiting the number of people entering venues at any one time.

Alterations have been made forSharps disposal

Our sharps service has been temporarily suspended. Please keep sharps in sealed containers at home if possible.

If you need to dispose of full sharps containers, or require a new container, you may do so at Banyule Community Health Centre, 21 Alamein Road, Heidelberg West, 9450 2000, 8am–5pm (bin is located in front of the building and accessible at any time).

Children

Alterations have been made toMaternal and Child Health

Appointments are carried out for 30 minutes over the phone. If you and your child are considered suitable for an in person appointment, it will be arranged over the phone and limited to 15 minutes maximum with social distancing measures maintained.

No new bookings will be taken for a child's key age and stage consultation from 4 months to 3.5 years at this time.

All kindergartens in Banyule are open with personal hygiene measures in place.

Our long day care centres are also operating as usual with personal hygiene measures in place.

Business as usual forPlaygrounds and skateparks

Following the measures introduced by the Victorian Government, playgrounds and skateparks will be open from Tuesday 26 May.

Older adults

Business as usual forDelivered meals

We continue to support older adults in the community with a meal delivery service. To access this or to discuss further, please contact the delivered meals team on 9422 8388. Our meals supplier is operating as normal, and we have ordered additional meals if needed.

There are no substantial changes to this service.

We have changed how we run this support service to encourage social connection without the group setting.

Pets

Alterations have been made toCat pound

The Cat Protection Society is closed to the public, but available for phone enquiries on 8457 6500.

Business as usual forInjured, lost and threatening animals

There are no substantial changes to this service.

Phone service is available for contained stray pets, injured animals and animals posing a threat to community safety on 9490 4222.

Alterations have been made toDog pound

Animals cannot be collected from the pound on Yan Yean Road at this time. Please call 9433 3111 to arrange pickup.

All impounded dogs must be registered before they leave the pound. Complete a pet registration form and send to us at enquiries@banyule.vic.gov.au, then call us to take a payment via credit card over the phone.

Gyms, sports and leisure centres

Limited service will soon resume at Ivanhoe Aquatic

From Monday 1 June, the centre will open to a maximum 20 patrons and limit of 3 people per lane in each pool. We are developing plans for the reopening and will provide details as soon as possible.

Service is not operating atMacleod Recreation and Fitness Centre (YMCA)

Following the measures introduced by the Victorian Government, management have closed this facility until further notice.

Service is not operating atOlympic Leisure

Due to limited space available, the pool will not reopen until further notice. This arrangement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and is subject to change with consideration to the further easing of government restrictions.

Olympic Leisure Centre members and multi visit pass holders are welcome to book into sessions being offered at the Ivanhoe Aquatic when it reopens on Monday 1 June.

Business as usual aWaterMarc

Beginning 3 June, the centre will be open with revised hours and providing:

  • outdoor fitness sessions
  • lap swimming and warm water pool sessions
  • 25 and 50 metre pool access.

Bookings are essential. Current restrictions also prohibit our Health Club from opening at this time.

Business as usual atIvanhoe Golf Course

The course is open from 6am – 6pm everyday.

Libraries and neighbourhood houses

Waste

Business as usual forBin collections

There are no substantial changes to this service.

Bundled branch collections are continuing as usual.

Hard waste collections are continuing as usual.

Alterations have been made toWaste Recovery Centre

Changes have been made to allow the centre to operate safely, including altered hours:

Open from 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday.

Open from 7:30am to 12pm Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Delays and wait times can be expected as social distancing practices will be followed, reducing the number of vehicles that can tip waste at any one time. Children under 12 years of age and pets must remain in vehicles at all times.

Daily quantity limits apply and are strictly enforced, including:

  • sump oil (maximum 20L container volume)
  • paint cans (100L container volume)
  • cardboard (maximum car boot load)

Card, EFTPOS and weighbridge account payments only, no cash transactions.

Sales have stopped forGreen cone biodigester

Sales of the green cone biodigester have been put on hold until further notice.

Functions, bookings and events

Bookings are now available for up to 20 people per hall from 1 June 2020. Further easing of government restrictions on crowd size will be announced when possible.
