Ongoing support available
There are people and businesses struggling more than others at this time. This remains front of mind as we continue to provide targeted support for those being impacted. Rates waivers of $500 are available to ratepayers on JobSeeker and $250 to ratepayers experiencing financial hardship. We also continue to support local business through a range of initiatives and grants.
We thank everyone for their valuable input in helping develop our draft Council Plan 2021-2025. The Plan outlines our focus for the next four years and ensures that what we do today aligns with our Banyule Community Vision 2041. We are committed to delivering on the Plan’s objectives to improve Banyule for all.

Our award-winning Inclusive Employment and Social Enterprise programs continue to make a real difference by supporting people to forge new pathways through employment and training opportunities. We have set a bold target to create 1000 inclusive jobs in Banyule over the next five years and we are pleased to advise we have already created 150 jobs. Jobs Victoria Advocate Program has also come to Banyule, offering one-on-one support for employment, education and training.
Sustainability is a major goal of Council and we want to have zero waste to landfill by 2030. A big part of this is the introduction of a food organics and garden organics (FOGO) waste service in July 2022. A small trial service will begin in some streets so we can get feedback from participants before we roll out the service across all of Banyule.
We hope people can enjoy some of our major festivals planned in the coming months. YouthFest puts on music and entertainment for young people on 14 November at WaterMarc car park. Unfortunately, we have had to postpone Malahang Wellbeing Festival, which was scheduled for 24 October, due to COVID-19 restrictions.
