About the poet

Janelle Da Silva (they/she) is an interdisciplinary artist, racial literacy educator, birth worker and scholar. Her work has featured internationally and nationally on television networks, stages, festivals, radio stations, podcasts, and films since the mid-90s.

They are currently occupying a long-term residency at Brunswick Town Hall with Twosixty: Seat At The Table creating, producing, and performing decolonising public arts events whilst completing a Masters in Art Therapy and a Grad Cert in Aboriginal Studies.

Their TED Talk (Feb 2020) combines storytelling and spoken word poetry to explore how race, racism and privilege informs her experience as a non-Indigenous Australian.
