The Victorian Government today announced a $750,000 contribution towards the estimated $24 million Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub redevelopment.
The $750,000 was one of the highest of 13 grants to municipal libraries announced today.
The announcement, made by Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz MP at Ivanhoe Library, was part of a total of $4.5 million of grants to Victoria’s local libraries.
Banyule Council Mayor Cr Mark Di Pasquale said the $750,000 grant was much appreciated.
“Council is very grateful for the support shown by our local MP Anthony Carbines on this matter. This grant will help make the new hub a state of the art facility that can truly meet the needs of our growing community.
“We know that libraries are at the heart of our community,” Cr Di Pasquale said.
“Libraries are natural gathering places and we’re building on this by bringing a number of Council services together to the new Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub.
“We’re working hard to make sure that this new hub meets the needs of our growing community and at the same time respects the iconic, much loved Ivanhoe Town Hall.”
The Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub is due to be completed by 2020.
