New Banyule mayor elected

Bakewell Ward Councillor Mark Di Pasquale has been elected Banyule mayor for 2017/2018.

Banyule councillors elected Cr Di Pasquale as the new mayor at the Banyule Council Chambers in Ivanhoe on Wednesday 22 November 2017.

Cr Di Pasquale has been a councillor at Banyule City Council since 2012 and was deputy mayor in 2016/2017.

Cr Wayne Phillips was elected deputy mayor for 2017/2018.

Cr Di Pasquale said he was looking forward to working with Council and the community as mayor to make Banyule the best possible place to live, work and enjoy.

“I would like to congratulate outgoing mayor Cr Tom Melican for his dedication to our community,” Cr Di Pasquale said.

“I greatly appreciated Cr Melican’s guidance and mentoring while I was deputy mayor over the past year.

“I look forward to working with my fellow councillors, whose wealth of experience will provide valuable support for me, as we continue together to deliver on our plan for Banyule’s future.”
