Level Crossing Removal Update

Tue 4 July, 2017

In July and August, construction activities will occur in and around the railway line from Monday to Sunday, 7am to 7pm.

Occasionally, the Level Crossing Removal Authority will work overnight while trains are not running. This is to ensure the safety of work crews and to allow for vehicles and machinery to access project sites.

What's coming up

  • Relocating overhead wires within the railway line
  • Earthworks within the railway line
  • Foundation works near the Burgundy Street Bridge
  • Foundation works near Darebin Street and Hawdon Street, to prepare for the new underpass next to the existing brick tunnel
  • Upgrading a drain in and around Manton Street Reserve.

  • Installing foundations around Rosanna Station, in preparation for the brand new station and rail bridge
  • Relocating overhead wires within the railway line
  • Closing the east side of Rosanna Station car park in order to maintain the safety of commuters, pedestrians and Level Crossing Removal Authority work crew
  • Making Ellesmere Parade one way (southbound) between Lower Plenty
  • Road and Davies Street to provide space for alternative car parks during construction works.

Several disruptions will occur for services on the Hurstbridge Line in July/August.

Always check PTV live travel updates and the most up to date Level Crossing Removal project details.

24-hour works

  • 14 July (Fri) to 17 July (Mon)
  • 25 August (Fri) to 28 August (Mon)

Additional night works

  • In order to safely upgrade the power and signalling infrastructure on the Hurstbridge Line, Metro Trains in conjunction with the Level Crossing Removal Authority will be undertaking works from Monday 17 July to Sunday 13 August. These works will not affect train services and are not expected to be disruptive to nearby residents.
  • Additionally, on certain nights during this period, construction works will be taking place in Heidelberg, and the Level Crossing Removal Authority will inform residents surrounding the works area closer to the dates.
