Since the end of 2015 the gas mains renewal program has taken place and the next stage of works has started in Ivanhoe.
The renewal works, which are necessary to ensure continued safe and reliable gas supplies to the area, have commenced in several areas across the municipality and will affect supplies to households and businesses as well as traffic flows around the work zones.
The Mains Renewal Program is being delivered by APA Group (as operator of networks owned by Australian Gas Networks Ltd) as part of a proactive maintenance program to replace over 2000 kilometres of cast iron and unprotected steel gas mains across networks in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland over the next five years.
The majority of the project involves inserting new polyethylene pipe inside the original mains. Polyethylene is a flexible plastic material that is highly resistant to deterioration.
Affected residents and businesses will experience a short interruption to their gas supply (approximately 8 hours) whilst the renewal is taking place but will receive prior notice, including information on the restoration of supply and reinstatement of the work area.
Road users, affected residents and businesses are asked to please look out for traffic controls in place during the works.
You can find out more about the project including the affected area and project contacts by visiting Australia Gas Networks or calling APA Group on 03 9463 8222.
