Banyule Mayor Cr Mark Di Pasquale and Cr Alison Champion will sleep rough on Saturday 7 July as part of St Vincent de Paul’s Diamond Valley Community Sleepout to support local people living in poverty.
The overnighter will be at the WaterMarc building carpark in Greensborough from 9pm Saturday 7 July to 6am Sunday 8 July.
Mayor Cr Di Pasquale and Cr Champion will be among local community and business leaders sleeping out overnight to raise $50,000.
“I’m more than happy to be involved to raise awareness of what people living in poverty go through regularly,” Cr Di Pasquale said.
“In the Diamond Valley region alone, Vinnies volunteers last financial year visited 3312 households where there were more than 3160 children.
“I encourage the whole community to get behind the Diamond Valley Sleepout and make a donation,” he said.
The Diamond Valley Community Sleepout is now in its third year and at WaterMarc for the first time.
This new site can cater for over 50 participants willing to sleep outside.
