We manage registrations for funded 4-year old kindergarten, for the 27 kindergartens in Banyule.
Eligibility for kinder
Your child is eligible to attend 4-year-old kindergarten if they turn 4 years of age by 30 April in the year of attendance.
Registering your child
You need to register the year before your child will attend 4-year-old kindergarten.
Registering your child for 2020
To register your child for 4-year-old kindergarten this year, 2020, print and complete the 4-year-old-kinder registration form(PDF, 345KB). Alternatively visit your nearest Service Centre, Maternal and Child Health Centre or kindergarten to collect the 2020 registration form.

Forms should be returned to Council as soon as possible. Places are allocated in order of registration.
No jab no play: immunisation is a must
All children must be immunised to attend a kindergarten. You must provide proof of your child's Immunisation history to the kindergarten prior to attendance. Go to Better Health Channel: No Jab No Play for more information.
We follow the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's funding priority guidelines as well as the priority groups set out in the Kindergarten Central Registration Policy and Procedures.
Fees for kindergarten
Four-year-old kindergarten placements are funded by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. In addition, each centre sets its own term fee, which families are required to pay.
If your family has a Health Care Card you will receive subsidised kindergarten fees each term.
Deferring your child’s place until next year
If you decide to defer your child's attendance until the following year, you will retain your original date and conditions of the registration. This option generally only applies to children born January to April, unless there are special circumstances.
Changing kindergarten preferences
When registering, you can nominate up to 3 preferred centres.
You may vary your preferences until 31 May, the year prior to your child's commencement, without your original date of registration being effected.
Variations after this date will be treated as a new enrolment.
To change preferences, email firstname.lastname@example.org with:
- your child's name and date of birth
- application number
- new preferences.
