Banyule's annual kids arts festival where everyone gets to play, create, experiment and have fun!
Kids ArtyFarty Fest 2019 Wrap Up
The Kids ArtyFarty Fest is a magnificent event that gives kids the opportunity to experience and explore arts practice in all its various forms. Activities, workshops, food, performances, storytelling, games and more... all set in a quiet patch of bushland alongside the Yarra River.
The Festival kicked off with the Grand Parade, marching down Burgundy Street Heidelberg, and continued with a day of creativity and entertainment in the park at Sills Bend.
We had some delicious food stalls this year with vegan, Halal, vegetarian options from The Gozleme Station, Kimu Korean Japanese Eatery, Gelato Papa, a community BBQ run by Rosanna PS and much more! - there was something tasty for everyone!
Kids ArtyFarty Fest Tipi Stage
There was a full program of performances underneath our gorgeous Tipikata Tipi! We had the Musical Sprouts, local band Exhiled on High Street, Adam Ladell ('The Voice' Australia 2016 Runner-up) and Lowanna's Creations (Aboriginal Dancers).
Arte Kalenda Flamenco had everyone entranced with their Flamenco dancing, Hoop Sparx showed us Magic Art and Jane's Harps of Happiness brought serenity to the Tipi.
Busy Hands Art Tent
Face Paint by Children - This was an ingenious idea by artist Dan Goronszy, which came to life at the festival, where children got to paint unique, one-off artworks on adults, siblings, cousins, friends and even themselves! These artworks amazed onlookers as they walked around the festival!
This is Me, Bunting - another project by Dan Goronszy, figuratively and literally joined together the creative talents of the attendees at the festival, responding to the festival theme of 'Identity - Celebrating Who We Are'. Each individual had the opportunity to create their own decorative flags, which were sewn together throughout the festival to form a striking display, representing the breadth of the community at the conclusion of the festival.
There were plenty of activities to experience, with stallholders and Council departments providing everything from a butterfly tent, spooky fortune telling, groovy Jets silent disco, tasty and healthy snack cups, monster can making, a little river house, pimping your bike and more!
We were lucky to have the local Scouts host Scout World with a rope bridge, giant climbing wall, boat rides, handmade go karts and much more!
