Council is preparing a local housing strategy with the community. Over the coming months this page will be updated to include information and describe progress.
The Banyule Housing Statement, was adopted in 1997. New population and housing trends have emerged since then and the State Government has created a strategy to manage metropolitan change and give direction to local housing strategies.

Council has recently adopted a Draft Housing Strategy. Local resident, business, community groups and others with an interest in local housing are invited to give feedback on the Draft Strategy. Consultation carried out on the Draft strategy guided the preparation of a Final Draft, this included the receipt and consideration of submissions. The link below gives a summary of issues raised by submitters and responses to these issues.

Community involvement has helped Council make progress towards a Final Draft strategy that will be considered by Council in the future. Community involvement included participation in workshops, focus groups, interviews, meetings and questionnaires. Received submissions on the Draft strategy will also help shape the Final Draft. Work is currently underway to prepare the Final Draft.
