Looking for Childcare in Banyule area

Banyule City Council manages three Long Day Care Centres and a Family Day Care scheme. All parents / guardians seeking care at one of Council’s Long Day Care Centres or with our Family Day Care program should complete a Child Care Waiting List Application Form and submit it to Council, via:

  • Email: enquiries@banyule.vic.gov.au
  • Mail:    PO Box 51, IVANHOE 3079
  • Hand deliver to: one of Council's service centres (Greensborough, Rosanna or Ivanhoe)

If you have difficulties downloading the form please contact Council and one will be mailed to you. Once your application is received it will be acknowledged in writing.

Childcare places are offered in order of date of application, having consideration for the days requested and the families’ working and/or studying requirements. There is no set waiting period and all services endeavour to fill vacancies in an efficient and timely manner.

Service planning for the calendar year commences in October of the previous year, so it is important that parents plan in advance and register their child/ren for care as soon as they know care requirements.

It is essential to keep Council informed of any changes to your contact details and/or care requirements.

As demand for child care is quite high within the Banyule area, parents/guardians are encouraged to register with the other community and/or privately operated centres in the area. There is no centralised application process for other centres.

Information regarding community managed long day care services, private long day care and occasional care please see documents below.

Inclusion and Professional Support Program

What is the Inclusion and Professional Support Program?

The aim of the Australian Government funded Inclusion Support Program is to remove the barriers to accessing child care that may be experienced by children with a disability, CALD backgrounds, and Indigenous children.

The program assists child care services with a range of practical supports, including advice, planning and resources, so that they are better able to provide all children with the opportunities to participate in activities that encourage learning and development within relationships with peers and adults and in a manner that reflects the interests and strengths of all children inclusive of physical, cultural and linguistic diversity.

The IPSP promotes and maintains high quality care and inclusion for all children in eligible child care services, by facilitating skill development of carers and increasing the capacity of child care services through the provision of professional development, advice and inclusion support.

The IPSP is an integrated approach to supporting and enhancing the inclusion and professional development needs of child care services and promotes good practice and continuous improvement in service delivery.

IPSP aims to provide and promote:

• support that enhances the quality of child care services including professional development and workforce development
• access to the range of resources staff need to provide care for all children
• access to additional staff when required
• flexible programs that are responsive to all children
• the readiness of child care services to become more inclusive.

The Inclusion Support Program assists child care services to include children with additional needs in child care. Inclusion Support Facilitators (ISFs) work at a local level with child care services. ISFs assist child care services to build their skill base and capacity to include children with additional needs.

The target groups for inclusion support are:

• children from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, including children from a refugee or humanitarian intervention background
• children with ongoing high support needs, including children with a disability
• Indigenous children.
Child care services that are eligible to access Inclusion Support Subsidy (ISS) include:
• Australian Government child care services approved for Child Care Benefit, including Long Day Care, Outside School Hours Care including Vacation Care, Family Day Care, Occasional Care, and In Home Care.
• Australian Government child care services funded under the Budget Based Funding Program, including flexible/innovative services, mobile child care services, Multifunctional Aboriginal Children's Services (MACS), Indigenous Playgroups, Indigenous outside school hours care and enrichment programs, crèches and innovative child care service centres.
