Whether its air, water, waste or noise pollution all changes to Banyule’s environment are important matters.  All issues concerning a potential pollution situation must be reported to the Environmental Protection Authority.

Call the EPA Pollution Watch Line when you notice:

  • Smoke or odours from an industry or business \
  • Spills or slicks in waterways
  •  Illegal dumping of wastes
  •  Noise from a factory or industrial complex

Water Pollution

In conjunction with Banyule’s Waterwatch program all water pollution incidents within Banyule also need to be reported to the Waterwatch coordinator.

Have you noticed any unnatural changes to Banyule’s waterways that are considered pollution?

  •           Oil slicks or other unusual liquids in waterways
  •           Distinctive water colour changes from normal state despite a lack of rainfall
  •           Illegal dumping of rubbish or other materials
  •           Unusual odours coming from waterways

In an event of pollution to Banyule’s waterways, we require reporters to complete Banyule’s ‘Pollution report Form’ and send it via email or via mail. Pollution also needs to be reported to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) which is available 24 hours a day via their hotline. Click here for Council’s response to pollution in the Environmental Strategy Report. Contact Details:
