GreenPower is one of the most effective ways homes and businesses can reduce their impact on the environment.

GreenPower is a national based government accreditation program that identifies environmentally friendly electricity sources, and ensures that they adhere to strict environmental and reporting standards. Since its inception in 1997, more than 645,000 households and businesses from around Australia have chosen GreenPower.

How It works

GreenPower comes from nationally accredited renewable energy sources from the sun, wind, water and waste that is bought for you by your energy provider on your behalf. The energy created from these sites is connected to a central grid across Australia which our homes and businesses are connected to, and contributes to the nation’s renewable energy component which is on top of the mandatory amounts.

When a customer purchases accredited GreenPower from their electricity provider they may (but not always) pay a small premium. Providers offer customers a choice of GreenPower percentages ranging from 5-200%. Only products that display the GreenPower ‘tick’ are part of the government’s accredited program, so look for their logo.  When purchasing GreenPower aim for 100%, as this ensures all electricity is sourced from government accredited renewables. When discussing your electricity with your provider, make sure to state the following “I want Government Accredited GreenPower” and specify the percentage you wish to purchase.
