Transport Planning

Banyule City Council is committed to providing excellent transport choices to all residents and visitors to the municipality. Through the appropriate development and use of both public and private transport networks, a safe, sustainable and functional mobility can be achieved.

Draft Bicycle Strategy

Council has developed a draft Bicycle Strategy and 10 Year Implementation Plan for the municipality.  The Strategy will be an important element in continuing our commitment to being a cycle-friendly Council and encouraging more people to ride bicycles.

The draft Strategy looks at many options to broaden the range of bicycle facilities and initiatives, including on and off road bicycle routes; recreational cycling; safety and, education and encouragement programs; to better meet the cycling needs of the local community now and into the future.  It also looks at opportunities to improve bicycle access and connectivity to our activity centres, schools, public transport and community facilities.  Importantly, the draft Strategy guides the provision of future funding for bicycle facilities and programs.

Council is seeking your feedback on the draft Strategy.  Copies of the draft Strategy can be downloaded below.:    Alternatively, a copy of the draft Strategy can be posted to you, by telephoning 03 9490 4222.
